Becoming a Buddy
The Mililani Miracles! could always use help from volunteers. They are looking for people who are able to volunteer their time from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm on Sundays. During these three hours the volunteers, or “buddies,” assist disabled players. Some of the players need someone to tell them how to play, which way to go, and what to do. A few are physically challenged and may need a buddy’s help to stay on their feet. In order to volunteer, "buddies" must be registered with the AYSO program. This soccer program is what the Miracles! team is apart of. Since many of the buddies are minors, they must fill out the youth application form, older buddies can simply feel out the normal application volunteer form (listed first.) Before each season buddies take the buddy oath and are briefed on what their job will be and the expectations they must maintain. If you have what it takes to be a buddy please fill out the volunteer application and email it to [email protected]. We'd love to see you helping on the field next season!

According to Coach Desi, a buddy should be someone "who is bright, able-bodied, generous of heart and gives of their valuable time to come out and be a soccer mentor on the field; but most importantly to give the rare and cherished gift of friendship to our players!" sdkljfoaierkldf Photo by Alexis K.
Josh W., a varsity soccer player from Kamehameha Schools, recently became a buddy for this team. He comments that "it's just fun working with the kids and doing something I truly love." |
